Writing Enrichment Event
On Sunday, six children from Years Three and Four took part in a writing enrichment event at Royal Dubai School. Working collaboratively with talented writers from other schools, the aim was to write a first-person recount of the day that the UAE sent their first astronaut into space.
Our budding authors had to use all of their powers of empathy and imagination to write from the point of view of Hazza AlMansoori. As always, our children represented DESS immaculately.
Our Year Three and Four representatives were: Aadit Naag, Neer Adhya, Sahar Mukhti, Olivia Hughes, Olivia Rennie and Erica Lee Miguel.
EIFL Chevron Readers’ Cup
On November 6th, eight talented and enthusiastic readers represented DESS at the annual Readers’ Cup competition ran by the Emirates International Festival of Literature.
The children have been ferociously studying three books over the last few weeks, ably assisted by their coach, Mrs Edwards. This competition is hotly contested so we are waiting with bated breath to discover if our teams have made it into the final which will be held at the Literature Festival in February.
Our fantastic representatives were: Nicholas Hinchliffe, Vehann Subramanian, Aryan Kalsi, Ethan Tom, Ali Masomzadeh, Maya Al-Hashimi and Taran Chana.
