DubaiCares Walk for Education
You may have seen some posters around the school site but we would also like to remind you that the DubaiCares Walk for Education is taking place at Creek Park (Gate 2) on Friday 15th February. Registration is at 8:00 with a 30aed donation and then the Walk starts at 9:00. DESS will be supporting the Walk for Education on our return after InSet Week with our own initiative – A Day of 4000 Steps on Thursday 28th February. The day will be a non-uniform (sports kit day) with a 10aed donation and we will be involving the children with some activities around the idea of counting the number of steps during the day from the theme of walking 4000 steps, in solidarity with children who embark on long, often treacherous journeys to school each day.
On Monday, DESS welcomed Tess, our reading dog, to the Library to work with children from Year 2. The Animal Agency uses animals to help promote reading skills and build confidence in youngsters. The children were highly focused and took great care when reading to Tess who was an appreciative listener. Tess will be visiting the same group of children every Monday over a six-week period.

Playground Equipment after-school
Please remind the children to not use the play equipment and climbing frame after-school. It is not supervised by staff at this time and we do not want any accidents to happen at a busy end to the day.
The play equipment is not in use before or after-school for safety reasons.
