Figures show that’s the average lifetime. I don’t know about you, but by my calculations I have used quite a few of mine already so all the more reason to ensure that we live every day to the fullest and ensure we spend as much time being as happy as possible. DESS children have been spreading happiness by the bucketful over the past fortnight and now everyone is smiling.
From the wonderful performances in all the year group concerts and the magical production of DESPA’s ‘Elf, the musical’; to our beautiful community Carol Concert at the church and the exciting new collaboration with Year 6, 7 and 8 performing together at DESC. It all culminated Tuesday night in a delightful feast of musical talent at the KS2 winter concert. As Buddy the Elf said, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” The audience could not fail to be impressed at the outstanding talent and it was wonderful to see the impact our new instrumental teachers have made already. Latifa Hall really was full of the festive spirit. A massive thank you to our all Performing Arts staff for their passion and dedication. They are quite remarkable and never stop smiling.

A massive thank you to all our PIPs who worked tirelessly to turn DESS into a winter wonderland and stayed the course entertaining 1000 very excited children with all their wonderful activities. I would also like to make a special mention to Mrs Joseph who organised the day so enthusiastically, spreading happiness wherever she went.
Sadly at the end of any term we find we inevitably have to say some goodbyes. To those families leaving to return to their home countries or to new countries, we wish you a fond farewell and hope you will stay in touch with the DESS family.
We also have to say goodbye to two more of our staff: Mrs Heystek, our lovely registrar has left DESS to return to South Africa with her family and Mrs Biagioni, our wonderful swim coach is leaving to return to Scotland. We wish them and their families every happiness in their new adventures. We would like to welcome, Josie …. as our new swim coach and Marie Kehoe as our new Registrar.
On a happier note we are very pleased to wish Congratulations to Miss Marmont who is getting married in South Africa over the Christmas Holidays and will return to DESS as Mrs Cooper.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our very dedicated DESS team for all the hard work they put into giving your children the best learning experiences. I would like to particularly express our gratitude to all our site staff who have had such a busy few weeks making all our events possible.
Merry Christmas to everyone celebrating and a Happy and Peaceful New Year to you all. Enjoy the winter break and remember to count your blessings and appreciate every second. Time really is precious.
